2010 Autumn
Jubilee & 100th Anniversary South Central
Fair Parade
Chase City, VA,
August 23rd, 2010
: the Chase City Chamber of Commerce is happy to
announce the
2010
Autumn Jubilee and a Parade celebrating the 100th
Anniversary South Central Fair. Both will be held
Sunday, October 10th, 2010
.
This
is sure to be a day to remember. The Chamber and the
South Central Fair Committee has been working on
this for months. The Fair’s 100th
Anniversary is a huge milestone and since last year
the Chamber Board of Directors have been discussing
what can be done to help the Fair celebrate, so the
joint events were born.
The
day will start at 2:00 PM on Main Street from
Sycamore Street to Second Street. The plans are to
make this a true community festival. Some of the
planned activities will be: Hoola Hoop Contest, Corn
Hole Tournament, Tricycle – Lawnmower – Golfcart
Races, Arts & Crafts Vendors, an old fashion
bake sale, live entertainment and food vendors. Of
course it would not be a Chase City Autumn Jubilee
without our famous Pumpkin Chunkin Contest. All this
will run until 5:00 PM.
The
second part of the day will start at 6:00 PM with
the South Central Fair’s 100th
Anniversary Parade. The parade will start at Second
Street and Main Street run south to Sycamore Street
(Colgate Square) and turn east traveling to Fair
Ground Road. At Fair Ground road the parade will
travel south to the front gate of the Fair Grounds.
There at the entrance the Fair Committee will have a
brief opening ceremony with a ribbon cutting.
Following there will be activities to round out the
evening. Entries in the parade will line up at 5:30
PM. Space is limited so get your entry in early.
There is no cost to put an entry in the parade and
floats are welcomed.
